Needham awards small business COVID-relief grants

On Thursday, Town Manager, Kate Fitzpatrick and the Select Board announced the town has awarded local small businesses relief grants totaling $250,000 to help them further recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

All told, 27 local businesses received grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. These grants are being funded through the Needham’s American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA), which was designed to facilitate recovery from devastating economic and health effects of the pandemic.

The grants will help businesses with issues regarding staffing shortages, COVID safety, digital adaptation and operating costs.

“It’s been so gratifying to offer this support to Needham’s small business community through this program,” said Amy Haelsen, Economic Development Manager for the Town of Needham, in the press release. “We hope this aid will be a boost to them on their road to recovery.”
